The Lil' Joe's Pub.

After spending around 4.5 hours in the airplane, we landed at Cork's airport. Then, we left our luggage at the hotel, and we went to the "Lil' Joe's Pub": a big but cosy pub, where we tasted a Guinness... Excellent !

When we got to Wexford, we could gaze at Curracloe beach. This famous beach was used to shoot Saving Private Ryan. Some had fun replaying scenes from the movie.🏄🏻‍🌊

All this made us hungry and so we decided to enjoy the sea and the beach for a picnic. 🥙🍩

It's the scene of the landing in the movie Saving Private Ryan

Pictures from wonderful Dublin

During our trip, we went to Dublin which is Ireland's capital. We first went to Trinity College and then at lunchtime we ate at McDonald's. After that, we took the bus to go to St Stephen's green. We went back to eat at the Fire Restaurant and Lounge.

In the evening, we went back to our hotel : we stayed at Westin Dublin and, as usual, Florian and Lehyan had forgotten their electronic key inside the room, we were locked outside without our cell phones ! Plus, the reception was closed at that time of day. We had to wait 5 hours in front of our room! Thanks guys! We could only glance at mythical Temple Bar as it was closed by the time we got there...!😖

Trim Castle is the famous place where King John lived in the film Braveheart . We were lucky enough to make a tour: Loic and Jules were forced to put their heads in the pillory by the guide because they kept talking during the visit.

We had lunch in the domain of the castle and our teacher had prepared an apple crumble cake with lots of apples bought on the local market in the morning . It was a huge surprise and it was delicious .

At the end , Corentin was at the top on the castle but he was afraid of heights and he screamed like a baby . All the class laughed even the teacher .

We visited Winterfell, the Northern capital of Games of Thrones . It was very funny , the biggest fans could wear the actors' costumes to look like Sansa Stark and her brother Rob Stark .😄 Then, we were able to perform achery just like in Season 1 where Jon Snow tells his little brother Brandon Stark how to do it. Chloé fired all her arrows near the target. To finish, we grabbed a bite in the large tent inside Castle Ward. The teachers were the luckiest since they could taste the local beer which is quite high in alcohol .

We adored the guide's humour who threatened Adam and Alan to cut their heads off and put them onto a post just like in the series because they kept making fun of his Irish accent.

During our trip, we went to Belfast to visit Titanic Studios which is one of the most famous studio in the world, mostly thanks to the 8 series from Game of thrones which were shot here.

The guide made us visit the Paint Hall first. It is the main building of the site where were shot the biggest scenes from Game of Thrones. The building is huge and unfortunately Lehyan and Alan got lost during the visit.

We looked for them for more than 20 min in the whole site. We finally found them by the seaside because Titanic Studios were built on a former shipyard.

We lost much time because of them to visit the other building : the Hurst and Macquitty stages. Unfortunately we only had 15 min to visit this wonderful building and luckily nobody got lost!

That's how we ended our tour of Titanic Studios. Tomorrow we'll go to Newcastle to visit huge Tollymore Forest Park.

During our fifth day in Ireland, we walked through the Tollymore Forest Park. The bluebells floor welcomed us, it stood in front of us like a beautiful sea that we explored, searching for a rare gray squirrel. The animal is nearly extinct but it inhabits the forest with its cousin, the red squirrel.

A sound surprised us, the trees' leaves ruffled. Suddenly, a little blue colored bird flew out of the green mess of trees. We tried as much as we could to take pictures of the quick animal as it fled our amazed gazes. We learned later that the Kingfisher was the bird's name.

As we sank even more into the Tollymore Forest, the guide made us stop in front of a bridge. We were told that the old construction has been used for the filming of the series "Games of Thrones".

We had fun reenacting scenes from Games of Thrones, taking pictures of the same bridge Jon Snow  and other characters stood on.

Among the pines and oak trees stuck out a funnier plant. Indeed, its specificity is the unique pattern of the leaves that draws a spiral around each branch. A bright green colors the forest thanks to the Monkey Puzzle.

After our stay in Tollymore Forest Park, we went to Shane's castle in Antrim which is one of the many Game of thrones' movie sets. It is located near Randalstown in Northern Ireland.

It was very impressive to have this ruined castle right in front of us. Everybody was amazed about it and the view was lovely for our picnic at lunch. Our tourist guide informed us about the construction of this castle, he told us that this castle had been built in 1345 by a member of the O'Neill dynasty. It is so old !

We took some photos to compare between the reality of the place and how it is decorated in the movie. As we can see, there is way more light in the movie picture! This clearly shows that movies do not reflect the reality at all.

This place was used to film in the first and the 6th seasons of Game of Thrones. This castle is surrounded with ruined stones and grassy fields which were perfect as a background for the film.

We went to Ballintoy Harbour to admire one of Game of Thrones settings. When we arrived some of us said "woooow" the landscape was very beautiful and some of us recognized Lordsport Pike Islands. We took some pictures and then we played some scenes from the series. A horse ran next to us as if we were in the episode. Our guide of the day Brian told us that he saw the actor Alfie Allen and he showed us a selfie. After some pictures of the group with the landscape, some guys lost a bet so they may swim into the sea. The water was really cold, but they swam anyway into Ballintoy seascape. The rest of us walked following the rhythm of the opening of Game of Thrones and Star Wars of course.

When we got there we were very impressed by how high the rocks were. Brian offered us to climb on these cliffs, it was just crazy. When we were at the top the view was breathtaking, but the most impressive was coming: Brian told us that the easiest way down was to jump! After that it was time to say goodbye to Brian. A long travel in bus was waiting for us...

After our 5 hours bus driving, we got to Galway at 5 p.m. We settled in the hotel and we went in a pub named "Taafes Bar" in order to relax. At night, a band played irish music, it was really fun to discover a new culture with its music. We went there as a stop during our long journey because we were so exhausted!

Around 9 p.m, we were all hungry so we went to a restaurant. Eliane and Nicolas took some Coddle, a famous irish meal ! They loved it !

After our wonderful dinner, we went outside in the street to go back to the hotel. We were flabbergasted by the beauty of Galway at night.

After visiting the big city of Galway, we had decided to admire the beautiful Cliffs of Moher which served as decors for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. We were told that it was very impressive with the height of the cliffs and the immensity of the place but we didn't expect it to be so gigantic. A guide told us that the cliffs were 214 meters high and 8 km long. It was amazing !!! 😲

While we were walking, two students made a bad joke and scared the rest of the group by pretending to push our teacher into the void, from the cliffs. It was hilarious !!! 😆

That day, we went to Skellig Michael which is an Island on the south west coast of Ireland. It was awesome!! And we got lucky because we were among the very few who could access it by day. The island rises up to 210 meters above the Atlantic Ocean and houses a Christian monastery. This island has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 and is recognized as one of the most important seabird sites in Ireland. By the way, It hosts populations of puffins, seagulls and gray seals. Some of these puffins came to us and they were too cute! We also have been able to feed them. The island has been the house of a community of few monks since the 7th century and during 5 centuries. We could visit the " beehive huts "(little dry stone huts) built by the monks. Skellig Michael welcomes an average of 11 000 visitors a year with a limit of 180 people per day for reasons of site protection. We can access the island only by a landing stage.

The island has also been used for cinema. The movie "Glass heart" ends on Skellig Michael and the Star Wars saga was even shot there. For that film, they were able to access the island only 2 days, so the majority of the scenes which should be shot on Skellig Michael was filmed on the south west coast of Ireland because it shared the same kind of mood. The island has been chosen for its beautiful natural scenery.

This island is a way to end our trip on a high note and keep in memory these beautiful moments.
